Genesis

Established in 1965 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Ministry of Education, Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Calicut stands as a testament to five decades of unwavering commitment to excellence in education. As a part of KVS, our institution has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic and personal trajectories of thousands of students over the past 57 years.

Nestled atop the historic East Hill in Kozhikode, our school provides a tranquil and verdant setting for learning. With a commitment to fostering a participatory spirit and upholding a stable value system, we create an environment conducive to holistic development right from Balavatika 3 to Class XII. We offer education across three streams, empowering students to excel in academics, sports, arts, and beyond.

In line with our commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities, we recently completed the construction of a new building, supported by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.  This modern infrastructure, coupled with our fully functional Atal Tinkering Lab, computer labs, and e-classrooms, ensures that our students have access to the resources they need to thrive in the 21st century.

With KV No.1 Calicut joining the PM SHRI initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy in 2023, the school reaffirms its commitment to the principles of equity, inclusivity, and pluralism in education. As part of this scheme, KV No.1 Calicut endeavours to nurture students who will emerge as active and contributing citizens, working towards the collective goal of building a more just, harmonious, and prosperous society.
